Hast Thou Killed and Also Taken Possession?

1 Kings 20:1-22:54

[Verse 1] Ben-hadad and thirty-two kings besiege Samaria and demand Ahab's wealth and household. Israel's elders counsel Ahab not to consent to the escalated humiliation. The small force attacks while Ben-hadad and the kings drink in their pavilions. Syrian counselors claim Israel's God is limited to the hills. [Pre-Chorus] The warning stood where no one wished to see, And every hidden root became a tree. [Chorus] Hast Thou Killed and Also Taken Possession, let the warning remain, Hidden sin still flowers into pain. The word of the LORD exposed what men concealed, And judgment stood where every heart was revealed. [Verse 2] Naboth refuses to sell his ancestral vineyard to Ahab. Jezebel writes letters ordering false witnesses and Naboth's death. Naboth is stoned, and Ahab rises to possess the vineyard. Ahab humbles himself, and part of the judgment is delayed. [Bridge] Four hundred prophets promise success, but Jehoshaphat asks for another prophet. Micaiah sees Israel scattered and reveals a lying spirit among Ahab's prophets. Ahab imprisons Micaiah and enters battle in disguise. A random arrow wounds Ahab; he dies at evening, and dogs lick his blood. [Final Chorus] Hast Thou Killed and Also Taken Possession, let the warning remain, Hidden sin still flowers into pain. The word of the LORD exposed what men concealed, And judgment stood where every heart stood revealed. [Outro] The warning did not vanish with the dust. The final line remembered judgment, fear, and trust.
