[Verse 1]
Naboth kept a vineyard
Beside Ahab's royal door.
The king desired it for a garden,
Offered silver, land, and more.
Naboth answered by inheritance:
"The Lord forbid the sale."
Ahab turned his face in anger,
Lay in bed, refused his meal.
[Verse 2]
Jezebel wrote letters
Under Ahab's seal and name.
She placed false men before Naboth,
Called a fast to cover shame.
They accused him before elders,
Dragged him out and cast the stone;
Then she told the sulking monarch:
"Rise, the vineyard is thine own."
[Chorus]
The vineyard stolen,
The blood beneath the vine,
The crown may sign the murder,
But heaven reads every line.
The vineyard stolen,
No witness was concealed;
Elijah met the king within
The very field he sealed.
[Bridge]
"Where dogs licked Naboth's innocent blood,
They shall lick thine," judgment cried.
Jezebel would meet the dogs;
The royal house would not abide.
Ahab rent his clothes and humbled,
So the evil waited years,
Yet stolen ground remembered
What was purchased through false tears.
[Final Chorus]
The vineyard stolen
Could not be made the king's by crime.
Possession gained through violence
Still answers truth in time.
