[Verse 1] The king dreamed a terror, then demanded the whole: The dream and its meaning, or death for the wise. Chaldeans answered no mortal could tell it; The sentence went outward beneath angry skies. Daniel sought mercy with friends in the night; The secret was opened in heavenly light. [Praise Refrain] Wisdom and might belong unto God. He changes the seasons and kings on the sod. He reveals the deep things concealed in the dark; Light dwells with Him when empires lose spark. [Verse 2] A head made of gold, chest and arms made of silver, Belly of brass, iron legs standing tall, Feet mixed with iron and clay held together, A terrible image that towered over all. Then came a stone no human hand fashioned; It struck at the feet, and the image became Chaff on the wind with no place left remembered; The stone grew a mountain and filled every plain. [Chorus] The stone without hands Will outlast every throne. Gold turns to dust, But the kingdom stands alone. The stone without hands Will fill the earth abroad; Human dominion falls, But the kingdom comes from God. [Final Verse] Nebuchadnezzar fell before Daniel, Raised him to honor in Babylon's land. Yet every empire remained under warning: The final great kingdom is not built by hand.
