[Verse 1] Beside the spring on the road toward Shur, The angel found her and spoke of a future. A son named Ishmael, for God heard her grief, A nation would rise from the child of belief. She named the well after mercy made known, Then turned to the household she had fled alone. [Verse 2] Years later, the water was spent in the wild; She laid down the burden and wept for the child. Yet heaven heard Ishmael under the tree, Opened her eyes to the well she could see. The boy grew strong with the bow in his hand, God stayed beside him in wilderness land.
