Let Patience Have Her Perfect Work
James · Chillsynth
[Intro]
To the twelve tribes scattered abroad:
greeting from a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.
[Verse 1]
When many-colored trials surround you,
count the testing as a forge for faith.
Patience must finish what pressure began,
till nothing required is missing from the work.
[Chorus]
Let patience have her perfect work.
Let the trial spend its force.
Ask wisdom from the giving God,
then stand in faith while the wave runs its course.
[Verse 2]
Desire draws away, conceives, and brings forth death;
temptation does not descend from God.
Every good and perfect gift comes down
from the Father of lights, unchanged by shadow.
[Bridge]
Swift to hear.
Slow to speak.
Slow to wrath.
Receive the engrafted word with meekness.
[Verse 3]
Do not glance at truth like a face in a mirror
and forget it when you turn away.
Look into the perfect law of liberty;
be a doer, and be blessed in the deed.
[Refrain]
Remember the word after the mirror is gone;
let obedience carry the blessing onward.
[Outro]
Bridle the tongue.
Visit the orphan and widow in affliction.
Keep unspotted from the world.
Let patience finish the work.
