Arise, go to Nineveh, preach what I give,
The rescued prophet must carry the warning.

Empire in stone and a man by the wall.

Yet forty days, yet forty days,
Then Nineveh falls beneath what it has made.
No decorated speech and no bargain declared,
Only the number and overthrow in the air.

The second commission was mercy to two:
To Jonah who fled and the city he loathed.
A short cry entered an exceedingly great place,

And forty days became room for a turn.
