The Trumpet of Jubilee
Leviticus 24:1-27:34
[Verse 1]
Oil kept the lamps awake and twelve loaves faced the holy place,
Then a blasphemer's mouth was judged with equal law for every race.
The seventh year released the soil from plow and pruning hand,
For the earth belonged to God and Israel lived as guests upon the land.
[Pre-Chorus]
Seven sabbaths counted seven times,
Then the horn would sound on Atonement's day.
[Chorus]
The trumpet of Jubilee, let the liberty ring,
Let the field return, let the household come free.
No brother bought forever, no inheritance erased,
The land belongs to God, and every family knows its place.
[Verse 2]
The sixth year held provision for the years the soil would rest,
Near kin could redeem the field and lift the poor from debt.
No usury upon a brother, no harsh master over him,
Even sold among a stranger, family redemption still remained.
[Bridge]
Obedience promised rainfall, harvest, peace, and God within,
Rebellion brought the terror, drought, the sword, disease, and famine.
Exile gave the land its rest, yet confession opened grace,
For God remembered covenant when humbled hearts returned.
[Final Chorus]
The trumpet of Jubilee, let the liberty ring,
Let the field return, let the household come free.
Vows and tithes concluded what was spoken at Sinai,
But mercy still remembered every covenant line.
[Outro]
The land was never owned by man,
And freedom had an appointed sound.
