Matthew
[Verse 1] Eleven climbed the mountain Where the risen Lord had named. They worshipped, though some doubted; Still the commission came. All authority in heaven, All authority on earth, Stood behind the road before them, Giving every nation worth. [Chorus] Go into all the world. Make disciples of the nations. Baptize beneath the holy name. Teach them every given saying. Go into all the world. No border lies beyond the call. The risen King goes with His servants, Even to the end of all. [Verse 2] Not Jerusalem only, Not one language, tribe, or shore. Good news moves through every people, Knocks on every human door. Signs would follow faithful witness; Mercy would confront the grave. The cross and empty tomb become The message carried out to save. [Bridge] One mountain held a small assembly. The world stood wider than their sight. Yet obedience starts with footsteps Before the road reveals its length. [Final Chorus] Go into all the world. From the near street to the farthest nation. Teach, baptize, bear the witness; Carry resurrection. Go into all the world. The command outlives the years. The risen King remains beside them, Stronger than their doubts and fears.

About the passage

Matthew 28: The sealed ending opens onto all nations

Matthew 28 begins where the previous chapter tried hardest to close the matter: at a sealed tomb under guard. The women return, an earthquake accompanies the angel’s descent, the stone is rolled away, and the keepers become “as dead men.” The empty place is not left unexplained. The women are told that the crucified Jesus is risen “as he said,” then they meet Jesus himself, take hold of his feet, worship, and carry his summons to the disciples. At the same time, some guards carry another report to the leaders, who answer it with money and a rehearsed account of theft. The book finally gathers the eleven in Galilee. Worship and doubt remain in the same company, yet the commission rests on Jesus’ authority rather than their perfection. The Gospel closes by expanding from Israel toward all nations and by returning to its opening Emmanuel theme in Jesus’ promise to remain with them.
