Matthew
[Verse 1] Evening fell across the water; Other little ships drew near. Jesus slept upon a pillow While the sudden tempest reared. Waves broke over wood and clothing, Every practiced sailor failed. They awoke Him in their terror: "Master, carest Thou not we perish?" [Storm Chorus] Wind against the sail, Water through the side, Thunder over Galilee, No harbor in the night. Wind against the sail, Every human skill stood still, Then He rose above the chaos: "Peace, be still." [Break - Sudden Silence] The wind ceased. The water lay down. The ropes stopped striking. No thunder around. [Verse 2] He asked why fear had ruled them, Why their faith had grown so small. They feared the calm more deeply Than the waves that climbed the wall. "What manner of man is this, That wind and sea obey?" The question crossed the quiet lake And followed them away. [Final Chorus] Peace, be still, When creation hears its Lord. Peace, be still, When the storm receives the word. The disciples crossed in wonder Where the moon lay on the hill. Wind and water bowed together: Peace, be still.
