Nations entered into Your inheritance, Defiled Your temple, laid Jerusalem in heaps. They left Your servants' bodies for the birds, And poured their blood like water through the streets. How long, O Lord? Will anger burn forever? Will Your jealousy consume us like a flame? Pour judgment on the kingdoms that ignore You, On the lands that never call upon Your name. Do not remember former sins against us; Let compassion hurry to our need. We are brought exceedingly low before You; Help us for the glory of Your name. Why should nations ask, "Where is their God now?" Let the prisoner's groaning reach Your throne. Return the taunt of enemies upon them; Preserve those appointed to die. Then we, the sheep of Your pasture, Will praise You through every generation.
