Lyrics · Zechariah
The LORD Shall Be King over All the Earth
Zechariah 14:1-21
[Day Overture]
A day belongs to the LORD alone,
Spoil divided within the street.
Nations gather against Jerusalem,
The city staggers beneath their feet.
[The Mountain]
Then the LORD goes forth to battle;
The Mount of Olives bears the sign.
East and west the mountain opens,
A valley forms through broken spine.
[Chorus]
The LORD shall be King over all the earth,
One LORD known, one Name confessed.
Living waters leave Jerusalem,
East and west without a rest.
The LORD shall be King over all the earth,
Night will hold a light unknown.
Every high place loses glory;
Only righteous rule is throne.
[Movement II]
People flee through the opened valley,
Saints attend the sovereign day.
Summer, winter, waters travel;
No season seals their living way.
[Judgment and Worship]
The hostile hosts meet wasting terror,
Yet survivors climb from year to year.
Every nation keeps the feast of booths,
Learning worship, rain, and holy fear.
[Bridge: Bells and Bowls]
Holiness to the LORD is carried
On the bells of ordinary steeds.
Every pot in Judah's houses
Serves the altar's sacred needs.
No merchant profits from corruption
In the house on that final day.
Common things become devoted;
Holiness has filled the way.
[Final Chorus]
The LORD shall be King over all the earth,
One LORD known, one Name confessed.
Living waters leave Jerusalem,
Giving east and west their rest.
The LORD shall be King over all the earth,
Light remains when evening falls.
From the mountain to the cooking vessel,
Holiness belongs to all.
[Finale]
One King.
One Name.
Living water through the land.
