What this page covers
Where the videos go in Nahum
The videos here take Nahum as a whole rather than one passage at a time, so this is the ground they cover: “Slow to Anger, and Great in Power”, “The Chariots Rage in the Streets”, “Woe to the Bloody City” and “Thy Shepherds Slumber”.
Slow to Anger, and Great in Power (Nahum 1). The book opens by insisting on two things at once about the same God. He is jealous and takes vengeance, and he is slow to anger and a stronghold in the day of trouble who knows the ones that trust in him. A hundred years after Jonah, the city that repented has gone back to what it was, and the feet of him that brings good tidings are on the mountains because the wicked one is cut off.
Thy Shepherds Slumber (Nahum 3:12–19). Your strongholds are fig trees with ripe fruit that falls into the mouth of anyone who shakes them. Draw the water for the siege, strengthen the brick kiln, and none of it will matter. Your merchants multiplied like locusts and flew away when the sun came up. The book ends by noting that everyone who hears the news will clap, because there was nobody your cruelty had not reached.
