Lyrics · 1 Chronicles
With a Perfect Heart They Offered
1 Chronicles 29:1-30
[Verse 1]
David reminds the congregation that Solomon is young and the palace is for God.
David adds his own private gold and silver because of affection for the house.
Princes and leaders give gold, silver, brass, iron.
David also rejoices greatly and blesses the LORD before the congregation.
[Pre-Chorus]
The long night ended, fear released its hold,
And every household heard the story told.
[Chorus]
With a Perfect Heart They Offered, let the feast begin,
Joy returned where grief and fear had been.
The people sang because the word held true,
And every generation learned what God could do.
[Verse 2]
Human life is compared with strangers, sojourners, and a passing shadow.
All prepared abundance is acknowledged as God's own.
David testifies that God tries the heart and delights in upright willingness.
The congregation blesses God, bows, and worships.
[Bridge]
The people eat and drink before the LORD with great gladness.
Solomon is made king a second time and Zadok is anointed priest.
Solomon prospers on the throne as princes and mighty men submit.
David dies in good old age after forty years.
[Final Chorus]
With a Perfect Heart They Offered, let the feast begin,
Joy returned where grief and fear had been.
The people sang because the word held true,
And every generation learned what mercy still could do.
[Outro]
The feast became a memory to keep.
Joy learned the name of those who once would weep.
