[Verse 1] An angel sent Philip southward To the desert road from town. A chariot rolled from Jerusalem, An Ethiopian homeward bound. A court official read Isaiah, Yet the meaning stayed concealed. Philip began from the suffering servant And preached the risen Christ beside. The road ran empty through the desert, Then water shone unexpectedly. "What hindereth me to be baptized?" Faith asked beside the stream. [Verse 2] The chariot stopped; they both went downward, Servant and teacher in the tide. The confession met the water; The traveler rose baptized. The Spirit caught Philip away, But sorrow did not mark the road. The eunuch journeyed on rejoicing, Carrying home a lighter load. [Final Chorus] What hindereth me? No nation, wound, or former name. What hindereth me? The good news opens grace. Isaiah's lamb became the doorway; A desert road became a place Where Scripture, witness, faith, and water Met in one redeeming trace.
