The Glory Filled the Dwelling

Exodus 32:1-40:38

[Verse 1] While Moses stayed upon the mountain, Israel asked for gods to see, Aaron shaped their golden earrings into a calf of blasphemy. Feasting rose around the image, covenant broke below the flame, And Moses pleaded for the people by the fathers and God's name. [Pre-Chorus] The tablets broke beneath the mountain, The idol burned and turned to dust. [Chorus] Do not send us without Your presence, Do not leave us on the road alone. Show the glory, renew the covenant, And dwell among the people You have known. [Verse 2] Levites answered judgment, plague exposed the people's sin, Moses pitched the meeting tent outside the camp again. Face to face he sought assurance, hidden in the cleft of stone, Then new tablets bore the words, and mercy with justice was proclaimed. [Bridge] His face shone after speaking, willing gifts began to flow, Skilled hands made every curtain, ark, and robe the pattern showed. Moses blessed the finished labor, raised the dwelling part by part, Then cloud covered the tent and fire guided every march. [Final Chorus] The glory filled the dwelling, No one could enter through the cloud. Presence stayed above the tabernacle, And led the people when it lifted from the ground. [Outro] Covenant renewed, The LORD dwelt in their midst.
