[Processional Verse]
Violence filled every road and room,
Thought after thought bent toward the gloom.
One man walked while the nations strayed;
Noah believed, and an ark was made.
Gopher wood rising against a clear sky,
A door in the side and the years passing by.
[Chorus]
Waters over the earth,
Fountains below and the storm giving birth.
Mountains vanished beneath the gray,
But the ark rode on through the judgment day.
Waters over the earth,
Mercy held life when the flood broke forth.
[Verse 2]
Pairs entered quietly, clean beasts by seven,
Then rain struck earth from the windows of heaven.
Forty days falling, one hundred more,
No field, no city, no visible shore.
The breath outside every refuge was gone;
Inside, the remnant was carried on.
[Middle Turn]
Then God remembered; the wind crossed the deep,
Waters drew backward, the ark came to keep
Rest on Ararat. A raven took flight,
A dove found nothing, then olive by night.
[Final Chorus]
Waters left the earth,
Dry ground opened to labor and birth.
Noah built an altar beneath the new sky;
Smoke rose upward as clouds passed by.
Waters left the earth,
Mercy preserved what judgment swept forth.
