Let the Little Children Come
Mark · Concerto Grosso
[Refrain - in his arms]
Suffer the little children to come unto me,
Forbid them not,
For of such is the kingdom of God.
He took them in his arms and blessed them.
[Verse 1 - the running man]
Good Master, what shall I do
That I may inherit eternal life?
Thou knowest the commandments;
All these have I observed from my youth.
[Verse 2 - one thing lacking]
Jesus beholding him loved him:
One thing thou lackest.
Sell whatsoever thou hast, give to the poor,
Take up the cross, and follow me.
[Interlude - he went away grieved]
He was sad at that saying
And went away grieved, for he had great possessions.
[Bridge - the needle's eye]
How hardly shall they that have riches enter the kingdom.
It is easier for a camel to pass through a needle's eye.
Who then can be saved?
With men it is impossible, but not with God.
[Outro]
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom as a little child
Shall not enter therein.
With God all things are possible.
