Lyrics · Numbers
Is the LORD's Hand Short?
Numbers 11:1-12:16
[Verse 1]
Complaint became a fire at the edge of Israel's camp,
Then craving praised the foods of Egypt and despised the daily manna.
Families wept beside their tents, and Moses felt the nation weigh,
He asked to die beneath the burden he could no longer carry.
[Pre-Chorus]
Seventy elders gathered,
And the Spirit rested on them all.
[Chorus]
Is the LORD's hand short?
Can the wilderness exhaust His word?
Wind can bring the quail, judgment can follow greed,
The hand that feeds can also search the heart beneath the need.
[Verse 2]
Eldad and Medad spoke within the camp beyond the tent,
Moses wished the whole congregation knew the Spirit's gift.
Quail lay deep around them, gathered day and gathered night,
But plague came while the meat remained between their teeth.
[Bridge]
Miriam and Aaron challenged Moses' singular place,
The cloud came down and God distinguished how He spoke with him.
Miriam turned white with leprosy, Aaron begged beneath the shame,
Moses cried for healing, and the camp waited seven days.
[Final Chorus]
Is the LORD's hand short?
Can the wilderness exhaust His word?
He can share the burden, He can humble pride,
And all the camp must wait when one is kept outside.
[Outro]
The nation did not move,
Until Miriam returned.
