[Intro - transmitted blessing]
A voice gives a vision to an angel.
An angel carries it to John.
John bears the record to the servants.
Reader, hearer, keeper,blessed;
the time draws near.
[Verse 1 - sevenfold address]
Grace crosses the sea to seven churches
from the One beyond every tense,
from the seven Spirits before the throne,
from Jesus Christ: witness who never failed,
firstborn out of death,
ruler above the earth's kings.
He loved us. His blood loosed our sins.
He formed a kingdom of priests for his God and Father.
Glory and dominion belong to him for ever.
[Refrain - two-name ascent]
Alpha,before the first breath.
Omega,after the final echo.
Beginning and ending,
the Almighty remains:
he is, he was, he comes.
[Verse 2 - cloudward turn]
Look,the clouds are bearing him.
No eye is left outside the sight;
those who pierced him also see.
Every kindred of earth answers with mourning.
Even so. Amen.
[Interlude - signal without words]
[Verse 3 - Patmos testimony]
I, John, shared your tribulation,
the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ.
The word of God and Jesus' witness
had brought me to the island called Patmos.
In the Spirit on the Lord's day,
I heard behind me a trumpet-great voice:
What thou seest, write in a book.
Send it unto the seven churches.
[Bridge - the turning]
I turned toward the sound,and light stood sevenfold.
Among the golden candlesticks walked the Son of man:
long garment, golden girdle;
head and hair white as snow;
eyes a flame, feet furnace-bright brass;
many waters gathered in his voice.
Seven stars rested in his right hand.
A sharp twoedged sword came from his mouth.
His countenance blazed like the sun at strength.
[Breakdown - hand upon the fallen]
I fell as dead.
His right hand found me there.
Fear not: I am first and last,
the Living One who entered death.
Behold, I live for evermore,
and hold the keys of hell and death.
[Outro - threefold commission]
Write what thou hast seen.
Write the things which are.
Write what shall be hereafter.
Stars: angels of the churches.
Candlesticks: the seven churches.
Alpha and Omega.
