What this page covers
Where the videos go in Zephaniah
The videos here take Zephaniah as a whole rather than one passage at a time, so this is the ground they cover: “I Will Utterly Consume All Things”, “Seek Ye the LORD, All Ye Meek”, “Her Prophets Are Light and Treacherous” and “He Will Joy over Thee with Singing”.
I Will Utterly Consume All Things (Zephaniah 1). The opening is the bleakest in the prophets: I will consume man and beast, the fowls of the heaven and the fishes of the sea. The target is a nation hedging its bets, those who swear by the LORD and by Malcham at the same time, and those who say in their hearts that the LORD will do neither good nor evil. The great day of the LORD is near, a day of wasteness, a day of the trumpet and alarm.
He Will Joy over Thee with Singing (Zephaniah 3:14–20). The last five verses reverse everything, and are one of the few places in Scripture where God himself is described as singing. Sing, O daughter of Zion, the LORD hath taken away thy judgments. He will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. I will gather them that are driven out, I will save her that halteth, and I will get you praise and fame in every land where you were put to shame.
