Poured Out Before the LORD

1 Samuel 1:1-2:11

[Verse 1] Elkanah travels yearly from Ramah to worship and sacrifice at Shiloh. Elkanah gives Hannah a worthy portion because he loves her. Elkanah asks why Hannah grieves despite his faithful love. She vows that a son will be given to the LORD all his days. [Pre-Chorus] No answer came to quiet every fear, Only the weight of all that had drawn near. [Chorus] Poured Out Before the LORD, carry this grief through night, Tears have weight beneath the fading light. Truth still speaks when comfort has grown thin, And faith keeps breathing where the wounds begin. [Verse 2] Eli sends her in peace and asks God to grant her petition. Hannah leaves with a changed countenance and joins the family worship. The LORD remembers Hannah, and she conceives and bears Samuel. She brings Samuel to Shiloh with offerings after he is weaned. [Bridge] She testifies that God granted the child and lends him back to the LORD. Hannah begins her prayer by rejoicing in God's strength and salvation. Her song declares that God humbles the proud and raises the weak. Samuel remains to minister before the LORD as his family returns home. [Final Chorus] Poured Out Before the LORD, carry this grief through night, Tears have weight beneath the fading light. Truth still speaks when comfort has grown thin, And faith keeps breathing when the night grows thin. [Outro] The night remained, but truth remained as well. Not every wound was given words to tell.
