The Glory Filled the House

2 Chronicles 5:1-7:22

[Verse 1] Solomon brings David's dedicated silver, gold, and vessels into the temple treasuries. Priests and Levites carry the ark, tabernacle, and holy vessels. The ark is placed beneath the wings of the cherubim. Sanctified priests leave the holy place without regard to normal courses. [Pre-Chorus] The people drew near, but not by careless way, Holiness ordered every word and day. [Chorus] The Glory Filled the House, keep the covenant in view, Every word and ordered service true. From altar, ark, and house the witness rose, The holy God alone the ending knows. [Verse 2] Solomon declares the temple a settled dwelling for God's name. He blesses Israel and recounts God's choice of David, Jerusalem. The king kneels upon a bronze scaffold with hands spread toward heaven. Solomon asks that prayers directed toward the house be heard. [Bridge] Foreigners, battle, and captivity are also placed before divine mercy. The prayer closes by inviting God to arise into his resting place. Fire descends, consumes the offerings, and fills the house with glory. Israel bows to the pavement and praises God's enduring mercy. [Final Chorus] The Glory Filled the House, keep the covenant in view, Every word and ordered service true. From altar, ark, and house the witness rose, The holy God alone the witness shows. [Outro] The lamps burned low, the ordered service stayed. The covenant remembered every vow that had been made.
