Saul, Saul, Why Persecutest Thou Me?

Acts · Operatic cinematic

[Pursuit] Letters in hand and a road before noon, Saul carried threats like a sharpened tune. He hunted the Name through village and gate, Certain his fury was serving the faith. [Breaking Light] A brightness fell stronger than Syrian sun, The riders went down and the journey came undone. Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? Who art thou, Lord, that no eye can see? [Chorus] Arise and go into Damascus, Blind hands led where proud feet had run. The persecutor entered in darkness, Waiting for what the Lord would have done. Arise and go into Damascus, The enemy will carry the name of the Son. [Verse II] Ananias answered with fear in his breath, This man has brought prisons and threatened us death. Yet Brother Saul heard the reluctant one say, Jesus has sent me, receive sight today. [Turn] Something like scales left eyes that had closed, Water received him, the new witness rose. Straightway in synagogues Jesus was named, The Son of God preached by the man once inflamed. [Bridge] Counsels for murder watched every gate, But night held a basket and lowered his escape. Jerusalem feared him, then Barnabas stood, Telling the church what the risen Lord had done. [Final Chorus] Arise and go into Damascus, The road of destruction became a new road. The persecutor carried the gospel, And churches found rest as the witness grew bold. [Coda] The light stopped one journey, And sent him to the nations.
