Where the songs go in Jeremiah

The 20 songs here set 6 of the 8 movements in Jeremiah to music: “I Cannot Speak, for I Am a Child” (Jeremiah 1–10), “A Yoke, a Potter, and a Broken Jar” (Jeremiah 11–20), “Seventy Years, and a Letter to the Exiles” (Jeremiah 21–29), “A New Covenant Written Inside” (Jeremiah 30–33), “Put Him in the Pit” (Jeremiah 34–38) and “The City Falls, and the Remnant Runs to Egypt” (Jeremiah 39–45). Others take the book as a whole.

I Cannot Speak, for I Am a Child (Jeremiah 1–10). A young man from a priestly village is told he was known before he was formed and appointed over nations.

A New Covenant Written Inside (Jeremiah 30–33). In the middle of a siege the prophet is told to buy a field, and he buys it and files the deed, because houses and fields will be owned here again.

The City Falls, and the Remnant Runs to Egypt (Jeremiah 39–45). The wall is broken, the king is blinded after watching his sons die, and the poorest people are left to keep the vineyards.

Not in song here yet: “Burdens on Egypt, Moab and Babylon” and “After the Fall”.
