Before Pilate
Mark · Melodic Techno
[Verse 1 - very early]
Straightway in the morning they bound Jesus,
Carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
Art thou the King of the Jews?
Thou sayest it, was all he answered.
[Verse 2 - the silence]
The chief priests accused him of many things.
Pilate asked, Answerest thou nothing?
But Jesus yet answered nothing,
So that Pilate marvelled.
[Chorus - the choice]
Will ye that I release the King of the Jews?
Release unto us Barabbas.
What then shall I do with him whom ye call King?
Crucify him, crucify him.
[Bridge - why, what evil?]
Pilate asked, Why, what evil hath he done?
They cried the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
Willing to content the people,
Pilate released Barabbas and delivered Jesus.
[Breakdown - the hall]
The soldiers clothed him with purple,
Platted a crown of thorns and put it about his head.
They smote him with a reed and bowed the knee:
Hail, King of the Jews.
[Outro]
They took off the purple and put on his own clothes,
And led him out to crucify him.
