Sealed until the Third Day
Matthew · Musique Concrète
[Verse 1 - evening]
When the even was come, Joseph of Arimathaea came,
A rich man who also was Jesus' disciple.
He begged the body from Pilate,
And Pilate commanded it to be delivered.
[Verse 2 - the new tomb]
Joseph wrapped him in a clean linen cloth,
And laid him in his own new tomb.
He rolled a great stone to the door,
While Mary Magdalene and the other Mary watched.
[Refrain - over against the sepulchre]
The stone stood between the women and the body.
The garden held the last light of day.
They sat over against the sepulchre,
And evening closed around them.
[Bridge - the council returns]
The next day the chief priests came to Pilate:
Sir, we remember that deceiver said,
After three days I will rise again;
Command the sepulchre be made sure.
[Breakdown - the watch]
Lest his disciples come by night,
And steal him away, and say he is risen.
Ye have a watch; go your way,
Make it as sure as ye can.
[Outro]
They made the sepulchre sure,
Sealing the stone and setting a watch.
