Lyrics · Ruth
Under His Wings
Ruth 2:1-13
[Verse 1]
Ruth asked leave to follow reapers, gathering what the hands let fall,
And the field she entered happened to belong to Boaz.
He came from Bethlehem with blessing, asked the servant who she was,
Heard how she had worked since morning with a little rest at last.
[Pre-Chorus]
A foreign woman bowed before him,
Wondering why he noticed her.
[Chorus]
Under His wings you came for refuge,
May the God of Israel repay
The love that left a father's household
To walk beside the grieving on a stranger's way.
Under His wings, do not be afraid,
Stay within the field where mercy knows your name.
[Verse 2]
Boaz called her daughter, told her not to glean in other land,
Stay beside my women, drink the water drawn by working hands.
He commanded every young man not to trouble or disgrace,
And Ruth fell down before him, overwhelmed by unexpected grace.
[Bridge]
Boaz knew the road from Moab, knew the loss she chose to share,
How she left her father, mother, and the people she had known.
Faithfulness had crossed a border, love had worked beneath the sun,
And the LORD she scarcely knew had led her to a kinsman's field.
[Final Chorus]
Under His wings you came for refuge,
May the God of Israel repay
The love that left a father's household
To walk beside the grieving on a stranger's way.
Under His wings, do not be afraid,
Stay within the field where mercy knows your name.
[Outro]
She came to gather fragments,
And found protection waiting.
