[Verse 1] Nathan tells David of a rich man who steals a poor man's single beloved lamb. Nathan declares, 'Thou art the man,' and recounts God's gifts to David. The sword and rebellion are announced as consequences within David's own house. The child will nevertheless die because the deed has caused enemies to blaspheme.
