Preaching the Kingdom with All Confidence
Acts · acoustic chamber anthem
[Approach to Rome]
Three months had passed when the sea road resumed,
Brethren came outward and courage was renewed.
Paul thanked his God at the sight of their face,
Then entered the city in a prisoner's place.
[Verse I]
He called the chief leaders and opened the cause,
No crime against people, no war with their laws.
For the hope of Israel this chain had been worn,
And a day was appointed from evening to morn.
[Chorus]
Preaching the kingdom with all confidence,
No man forbidding, no guarded silence.
Bound to a soldier, yet open the door,
Teaching the things of Jesus the Lord.
Preaching the kingdom with all confidence,
The book ends in chains, but the word is unhindered.
[Verse II]
From Moses and prophets he reasoned the way,
Some were persuaded and some turned away.
Isaiah's old warning was spoken once more,
Hearts can grow heavy while truth fills the room.
[Bridge]
Be it known that salvation is sent to the nations,
They will hear what resistance refused.
Two full years in a house he had rented,
Receiving all people who entered to listen.
[Final Chorus]
Preaching the kingdom with all confidence,
No man forbidding, no final full stop.
From Jerusalem outward, through prison and sea,
The witness reached Rome and continued to speak.
[Outro]
Acts closes the record,
Not the work of the gospel.
