Where the songs go in Isaiah

The 19 songs here set 7 of the 8 movements in Isaiah to music: “Wash You, Make You Clean” (Isaiah 1–12), “Burdens Against the Nations” (Isaiah 13–23), “The Earth Reels Like a Drunkard” (Isaiah 24–27), “Hezekiah, and a Shadow That Went Back” (Isaiah 36–39), “Comfort Ye My People” (Isaiah 40–48), “He Was Wounded for Our Transgressions” (Isaiah 49–57) and “New Heavens and a New Earth” (Isaiah 58–66).

Wash You, Make You Clean (Isaiah 1–12). God takes his own people to court.

Hezekiah, and a Shadow That Went Back (Isaiah 36–39). An Assyrian officer stands outside the wall and mocks in the language of the people on it.

New Heavens and a New Earth (Isaiah 58–66). The fast God chose is to loose the bands of wickedness and feed the hungry, not to hang the head like a bulrush.

Not in song here yet: “Woe to Those Who Go Down to Egypt”.
