Crucified with Christ
Galatians · cinematic post-rock
[Jerusalem]
Fourteen years later the gospel was laid
Before those reputed, but truth was not weighed
By human appearance or pressure to bind,
And Titus stayed free from the yoke men designed.
[Verse I]
James, Cephas, and John gave fellowship's hand,
The poor still remembered, the mission still planned.
But Antioch exposed when a pillar withdrew,
Fear of a party made table-fellowship untrue.
[Rebuke]
If thou, being Jewish, hast lived with the nations,
Why force Gentile brethren toward old separation?
The gospel's straight path must be publicly kept,
No custom may rebuild what grace has rejected.
[Chorus]
I am crucified with Christ,
Nevertheless I live.
Yet not I, but Christ lives in me,
And the life now lived is by faith in the Son.
I am crucified with Christ,
Who loved and gave Himself for me.
[Verse II]
A person is not justified by works of the law,
But faith in Jesus Christ answers the call.
If righteousness came through the structure we build,
Then Christ died in vain and the promise is stilled.
[Final Chorus]
I am crucified with Christ,
The old boast has died at the cross.
Grace is not frustrated by rank or tradition,
The Son gave Himself and absorbed all the cost.
[Coda]
A table revealed the conflict,
The cross revealed the answer.
