The LORD Will Provide
Genesis 20:1-22:24
[Verse 1]
A king was warned in dreams, and Sarah was restored,
Then laughter filled the tent when Isaac came according to the word.
The promised child was circumcised, the feast was spread with joy,
Yet Hagar crossed the wilderness with bread and with her boy.
[Pre-Chorus]
When the water failed, a cry rose from the sand,
And God opened her eyes to a well already at hand.
[Chorus]
The LORD will provide on the mountain of testing,
A ram in the thicket, a hand held from striking.
Father and son walked the road side by side,
And faith found its answer where the sacrifice died.
[Verse 2]
At Beersheba peace was sworn beside the opened well,
Then Abraham heard Moriah named and rose before the dawn.
Three days he carried silence, wood upon the promised son,
While Isaac asked the question, and the answer waited on.
[Bridge]
The altar stood, the cords were drawn, the knife was in his hand,
Then heaven called his name and stopped the blow at God's command.
A ram was caught behind him, and the promise was renewed,
Through Abraham's obedient fear the nations would be blessed.
[Final Chorus]
The LORD will provide on the mountain of testing,
A ram in the thicket, a hand held from striking.
The promise was not buried, the covenant survived,
And father and son left the mountain side by side.
[Outro]
Where the question rose, provision stood.
The mountain kept the name: the LORD will provide.
