Where the songs go in Numbers

The 26 songs here set 6 of the 6 movements in Numbers to music: “A Census and a Cloud” (Numbers 1–10), “Spies, Grapes, and a Forty Year Sentence” (Numbers 11–14), “Korah, and a Rod That Budded” (Numbers 15–20), “A Bronze Serpent and a Prophet for Hire” (Numbers 21–25), “Counted Again, at the Edge” (Numbers 26–30) and “Borders Drawn on a Land Not Entered” (Numbers 31–36).

A Census and a Cloud (Numbers 1–10). The people are counted, then camped tribe by tribe in a square around the tent, with the Levites between the people and the holy things.

A Bronze Serpent and a Prophet for Hire (Numbers 21–25). Snakes come among the people, and the cure is to look at a bronze snake on a pole.

Borders Drawn on a Land Not Entered (Numbers 31–36). Two and a half tribes ask to stay on the near side of the Jordan and are made to cross and fight first anyway.
