[Opening Command]
Let the people go.
Let the wilderness hear them.
Let the people go.
Let sacrifice rise.
The word stood before Pharaoh,
Unbending and clear;
Let the people go,
For the Lord had drawn near.
[Verse 1]
Moses and Aaron walked into the court,
No army behind them, no chariot support.
Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord I should heed?"
Then doubled the burden and tightened the need.
No straw for the brick, yet the tally the same;
The officers beaten, the Hebrews in blame.
[Low Refrain]
The night grew harder before it broke;
Bondage grew heavier under the yoke.
[Verse 2]
The people accused them; Moses cried sore,
But covenant names were declared once more.
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had known
The promise now moving against Egypt's throne.
Aaron cast down the staff in the hall;
It became serpent before them all.
Magicians answered with wonders displayed,
But Aaron's rod swallowed the rods they had made.
[Final Command]
Let the people go.
The river will witness.
Let the people go.
The proud will be tried.
The word stood before Pharaoh,
Unbending and clear;
Let the people go,
For the Lord had drawn near.
