Count the Stars
Genesis 15:1-17:27
[Verse 1]
Abram saw no heir, only years against the door,
Then heaven opened over him with stars beyond a score.
He trusted what was promised when no cradle stood in sight,
And faith was counted righteous underneath the endless night.
[Pre-Chorus]
Birds circled the covenant pieces,
Darkness fell and history was shown.
[Chorus]
Count the stars, if they can be numbered,
So shall the promised generations rise.
Through furnace smoke and burning light,
The covenant moved through the night.
[Verse 2]
Hagar fled the conflict to a spring beside the road,
There the God who saw her named the child that she would hold.
Ishmael received a future, yet Isaac held the sign,
And aged Abram fell before the word that changed his life.
[Bridge]
Abram became Abraham, Sarai became Sarah,
Kings and nations waited in a promise drawing nearer.
The household bore the covenant mark in flesh that very day,
While laughter still seemed impossible, Isaac stood on the way.
[Final Chorus]
Count the stars, if they can be numbered,
So shall the promised generations rise.
The God who sees the desert and the tent,
Keeps the word that through the ages went.
[Outro]
No cradle yet, but heaven had spoken.
No nation yet, but the covenant was unbroken.
