Blood in the Ground

Genesis 3:1-5:32

[Verse 1] A serpent bent the question till the warning sounded small, The fruit was taken, shame awakened, leaves could hide them all. They heard the steps within the garden and fled among the trees, But blame could not return the peace they traded for deceit. [Pre-Chorus] Dust would fight the hand that worked it, Death had entered through the door. [Chorus] Blood cried out from the ground, East of Eden heard the sound. Sin lay waiting, anger burned, Still the promised seed remained when mankind turned. [Verse 2] Cain brought fruit, and Abel brought the firstlings of the fold, One face fell dark with jealousy when mercy spoke control. The warning stood before him, but he struck his brother down, Then wandered marked and restless while the blood accused the ground. [Bridge] Cities rose and hammers rang, but violence learned to boast, Lamech sang of vengeance while the world forgot the most. Yet Seth called on the LORD, and Enoch walked the road, And through the years the guarded line moved onward toward Noah. [Final Chorus] Blood cried out from the ground, East of Eden heard the sound. Death had entered, mercy stayed, And the promised seed remained through every grave. [Outro] The gate was shut, the garden left behind, But hope still moved through the wounded line.
