[Verse 1] Manasseh begins a fifty-five-year reign and rebuilds idolatrous high places. Children pass through fire, occult practices spread, and an idol is set in God's house. Assyrian captains take Manasseh with hooks and brass chains to Babylon. God hears and returns him to Jerusalem, teaching him that the LORD is God. Josiah reads the covenant before the nation and causes the people to serve God. [Bridge] Pharaoh-neco warns Josiah not to interfere, but the disguised king is wounded at Megiddo. Jeremiah and the singers lament Josiah's death. Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin, and Zedekiah pass under Egyptian and Babylonian domination.
