Led to the Well

Genesis 23:1-25:18

[Verse 1] Sarah died in Hebron, and Abraham bowed in grief, He weighed the silver openly and bought a place of peace. Machpelah held the promise in the soil of Canaan's land, Then an aged servant traveled with an oath within his hand. [Pre-Chorus] Ten camels knelt at evening, And a prayer waited beside the well. [Chorus] Led to the well, led by mercy, Before the words were finished, Rebekah came early. Water for the stranger, water for every beast, The faithful road of providence brought comfort after grief. [Verse 2] She drew until the camels drank and opened up her home, The servant bowed in worship, knowing he had not come alone. He told the family every sign, the promise, birth, and plea, And Rebekah answered freely, "I will go" across the distance. [Bridge] Isaac walked the field at dusk and saw the caravan, She covered herself, then entered the tent where Sarah had been. Abraham finished his years and rested beside his wife, While Isaac and Ishmael buried him and the next generation rose. [Final Chorus] Led to the well, led by mercy, Before the words were finished, Rebekah came early. Water for the stranger, courage for the road, The faithful hand of providence brought a bride and lifted sorrow. [Outro] A grave held one generation, A wedding opened the next.
