[Verse 1] Joshua called the elders when his years had grown complete, Reminded them the LORD had fought and every promise stood. Cling to God and keep the law, do not join the nations left, For snares and thorns would follow if the covenant were broken. [Pre-Chorus] Not one good word had failed, But judgment too would surely come. [Chorus] As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD, Choose this day between the gods your fathers served before. Put away the strangers, turn the whole heart toward His word, As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. [Verse 2] At Shechem Joshua told the road from Terah through the fathers, Egypt, sea, the wilderness, Sihon, Og, and Balaam's failure. Jordan, Jericho, and vineyards they had never planted stood, All the land became a witness to the grace that brought them through. [Bridge] The people pledged their service though the holy God was jealous, Joshua made the covenant and raised a stone to hear. Then he sent the tribes to portions, died at one hundred ten, Joseph's bones and Eleazar closed the generation in the land. [Final Chorus] As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD, Choose this day between the gods your fathers served before. Let the stone beside the sanctuary testify to every word, As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. [Outro] Joshua entered rest, And the stone remained at Shechem.
