Por qué el relato aparece entre corchetes o en notas

John 7:53-8:11. La KJV incluye el relato de la mujer sorprendida en adulterio en Juan 7:53-8:11. Los manuscritos griegos más antiguos de Juan no lo contienen, y manuscritos posteriores lo colocan en varios lugares. Estos hechos hacen incierta su ubicación original en Juan.

El relato tiene una larga historia de lectura en el culto y la enseñanza cristiana. Muchos lo consideran una tradición antigua sobre Jesús aun reconociendo que la evidencia manuscrita no apoya su presencia en el texto recuperable más antiguo de Juan en este lugar. Otros defienden su ubicación y uso tradicionales.

El pasaje no debe usarse para minimizar el pecado ni para justificar la condena selectiva de una multitud. En el relato recibido, Jesús desenmascara a los acusadores, rechaza la condena y también llama a la mujer a abandonar su vida de pecado.
