2 Samuel 1–6
David sings a lament for the man who hunted him: how are the mighty fallen. Seven years of war follow between the house of Saul and the house of David, and two men who murder for a reward are executed instead of paid. Jerusalem is taken, and the ark comes home with dancing, after a man who reaches out to steady it dies on the road.
