Straight off the mountain the words are put to work. A leper is touched, a centurion says just speak the word, a storm is told to be quiet, and a girl everyone has already mourned is taken by the hand and told to get up.

Matthew 10–20
The twelve are sent out and told plainly they will be hated. John, in prison, sends to ask whether Jesus is really the one. Parables about a sower, weeds, a mustard seed and a pearl. Peter says thou art the Christ and six verses later is called Satan for arguing about the cross. On a mountain the face shines, and on the road down the argument is about who is greatest.

He rides in on a borrowed donkey while the crowd shouts, turns over the tables, and spends the week being tested by every party in turn: taxes, resurrection, the greatest commandment. The woes on the Pharisees are savage and the parables get sharper. Then a supper, a garden, a kiss, a courtyard fire, a rooster, and a governor calling for water to wash his hands.

An earthquake, an angel who rolls the stone away and then sits on it, and guards who go rigid with fear. The women are the first told and the first met on the road. Some worship and some doubt, and the doubting is written down rather than tidied away. All authority is given to him, so go and make disciples of all nations, and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
